Virtual cards

Virtual cards are a secure and flexible alternative to physical payment cards. They can be added to Apple Pay or Google Pay for mobile payments or used directly for online purchases. Virtual cards offer convenience, control, and enhanced security, making them ideal for modern business and personal use.

Each cardholder can have up to 20 virtual cards, allowing for easy budgeting, team management, or separating different types of expenses.

Card statuses and lifecycle management

Understanding how virtual cards work throughout their lifecycle is essential for managing usage, access, and security. Mynt's platform provides clear card statuses, helping users and administrators stay in control.

Card status explained

  • OK: The card is fully active and ready to use for payments, either online or via Apple Pay/Google Pay.
  • Blocked/Frozen: The card is temporarily disabled. A blocked or frozen card cannot be used until it is reactivated. Depending on the configuration, partners can block a card administratively or allow users to freeze their cards themselves. When a card is blocked, all connected digital wallets are automatically suspended.
  • PRE_ORDER: The card has been requested but is not yet active. It will be issued once the identity verification (KYC) process is complete. This allows for early planning without enabling usage until all checks are passed.
  • Terminated: The card has been permanently deactivated. This typically occurs when a user or partner requests its closure. Terminated cards cannot be reactivated, and any digital wallet connections are also disabled.
